Dr. Naila Al-Harthy completed her medical degree at College of Medicine, SQU, Oman in 1993. She did her residency in Ophthalmology and her fellowship in Uveitis at McGill University, Montreal, Canada. Following completion of her post-graduate training, she joined Al Nahdha hospital, Oman in 2003.
Dr. Naila focus on providing excellent care for her patients. She established a Uveitis clinic at Al Nahdha hospital which is the first in the country. She performed various ocular surgeries including advance and complicated cataract surgery, amniotic membrane ocular surface reconstruction, superficial keratectomy with amniotic membrane, and various pterygium surgeries.
She was a one of the founders of the residency training program in Ophthalmology at OMSB, Oman where, she was awarded as Best Teacher in Omsb in ophthalmology department. She had taken several leading positions in the past including being the program director of the Ophthalmology residency training program of OMSB as well as the HOD of ophthalmology at Al Nahdha hospital. She was awarded the best clinical/pathology prize, McGill Ophthalmology and Scientific research day 2001. She also received the outstanding staff award at Al Nahdha hospital in 2014.
